Description
The Supervising Consultative Pharmacist consults with patients, pharmacies and providers to provide patient care in the form of optimal medication therapy. The Supervising Consultative Pharmacist works within thorough, prescribed guidelines and procedures; uses independent judgment requiring analysis of variable factors to solve basic problems; collaborates with management and top professionals/specialists in selection of methods, techniques, and analytical approach.
Responsibilities
The Supervising Consultative Pharmacist advises safe, accurate and timely usage of medications. Designs, implements, evaluates and makes adjustments to medication care plans. Monitors medication therapy and makes adjustments as needed. Works as the medication expert in focused proactive heath campaigns that target improving health outcomes for patients with specific conditions. Decisions are typically are related to schedule, plans and daily operations. Performs escalated or more complex work of a similar nature, and supervises a group of typically support and technical associates; coordinates and provides day-to-day oversight to associates. Ensures consistency in execution across team. Holds team members accountable for following established policies.
To lead a single team of pharmacists to efficiently provide an exceptional customer experience to hospices through the accurate and timely processing of prescriptions and consultations where necessary.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Coach team members to reach peak efficiency and productivity.
Motivate staff to excel in their positions
Manage staff to schedule adherence
Perform staff annual and periodic reviews
Set goals, objectives, and timeline to achievement with staff
Address QA issues; formulate resolution plan, and counsel and direct staff for self improvement
Communicate and collaborate with real-time management to assure workflow is at peak efficiency and performance.
Assess and coach team members to provide and maintain consistent high quality clinical services.
Assist the human resource department with episodic recruitment, interviewing, hiring and discharging responsibilities to ensure budgeted staffing.
Uphold pertinent operations policy/procedure, development and implementation.
Enforce adherence to state and federal pharmacy laws and regulations (HIPAA compliance).
Serve as a resource to external and internal customers to assure an excellent relationship.
Communicate team member concerns/issues to Senior and Executive leadership.
Collaborate with other Patient Care Operations supervisors, managers and leads to ensure that hospices are working with a single entity.
Required Qualifications
Licensed Pharmacist with PharmD, from an accredited school of pharmacy or current RPh team members with three or more years of pharmacy practice experience
4 - 6 years of related experience
Must have an active license with the Board of Pharmacy in the appropriate state
Minimum of one year Supervisory experience
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong problem solving skills
Proven organization and effective time management skills
Ability to participate in Federal prescription programs
Ability to work within team constructs.
Hard working, self motivated, perseverant and directed.
Must be passionate about contributing to an organization focused on continuously improving consumer experiences
Preferred Qualifications
PharmD
3 or more years experience in a high volume community or mail order pharmacy practice environment
One year experience in a Call Center as a Clinical Pharmacist.
