Call Center Agent Jobs description

A call center agent is the person who handles incoming or outgoing customer calls for a business. A call center agent might handle account inquiries, customer complaints, or support issues. The other names for a call center agent include customer service representative, telephone sales or service representative, attendant, associate, operator, or account executive.

Since a call center agent needs to constantly interact with customers, the individual should have the ability to deal patiently with problems and complaints and to remain courteous even when faced with difficult or irate customers. Further, the call center agent should have the ability to work independently within specified time constraints.

Basic computer knowledge with a typing speed of at least 25 wpm is necessary and so are good interpersonal skills and team work awareness. The minimum qualification for a call center agent position is a high school diploma or equivalent. The ability to converse in languages other than English is also an added advantage.
